Key founding team role based in Los Angeles
The Mission
Quantelix is on a mission to disrupt the $34B biosensing market using quantum technology. We’ve raised a significant seed round from savvy investors, and we’re building out our team and our product. We’re looking for someone with the right combination of technical skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to be our first Product Software Engineer. If you have the experience and skills described below and want to help change a massive market, reach out to us.
Required Skills and Experience:
B.S. or B.A. in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of industry experience developing customer-facing software. Strong hands-on experience in software development, data processing, UI/UX, and hardware/software integration, including APIs, SDKs, and drivers. Proven ability to translate complex data into intuitive user experiences and collaborate cross-functionally in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a Product Software Engineer to own the full product software platform that connects customers to the Quantelix instrument. This spans instrument firmware, instrument control, user experience, data visualization, scientific analysis, and machine learning. You will work closely with our scientific team, ODM, hardware partners, and early customers.
Own the customer-facing product — hardware and software — of an early-stage company, and help transition it from early prototypes to a scalable commercial product.
Own the middle layer to manage and analyze data captured by a scientific device and translate and display the data to the user.
Work with our ODM and component vendors to specify, integrate, and bring up instrument hardware, including supplied APIs, SDKs, drivers, and system interfaces.
Contribute to hardware and firmware architecture decisions, embedded development, and the hardware-software interface, alongside the customer-facing application layer.
Debug and validate the instrument end-to-end, from electromechanical subsystems through firmware, drivers, and the software UI.
Collaborate with scientists, optical engineers, electrical engineers, industrial designers, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers to define system architecture and resolve cross-disciplinary design issues.
Ideal Background
Experience developing intuitive customer-facing software.
Strong ability to move between hands-on coding, hardware integration, vendor management, and rapid iteration.
Ability to translate complex instrument data and scientific capabilities into simple, actionable user experiences.
Comfort serving as the bridge between customer needs, software, instrument hardware, and evolving scientific capabilities, with the ability to lead a larger software team as the company grows.
Strong product instincts and the ability to operate autonomously in an early-stage environment, with the potential to lead and grow a software team as the company scales.
Preferred Experience
Scientific computing, signal processing, machine learning, or neural-network implementation.
Experience taking a software product from prototype through commercial deployment.
Compensation & Equity
Competitive cash compensation plus meaningful founding-team equity.
Specific cash and equity package to be discussed with finalists based on experience and scope.
Location & Work Arrangement
Based in / willing to relocate to Los Angeles.
Regular in-person time in Pasadena for cofounder working sessions, lab visits, and partner/customer engagements.
To express interest, reach out directly with your CV: careers@quantelix.ai
Applications are reviewed by the Chief of Staff and forwarded to the cofounders. Shortlisted candidates selected for interview will be asked to sign a mutual NDA, after which they will receive Quantelix’s confidential seed memorandum and supporting materials.
